In anticipation of our lunch gathering we chose a shorter ride. This way we knew we could get home in time to get to their place by 1PM. It is only a short drive up the hill but decided to shower and change when we got back from lunch.
This ride took us to Campagnac les Quercy, a village we have been to before. Once for lunch with Shaun and again by bike. We knew we could head down the back way through Daglan.
We took the easy climb to Centre Ville where we encountered this monument.
Since this was a new way down we managed to take the wrong turn and then realized as we descended this double digit downhill that we made a mistake. We hit the brakes but I did not get my foot planted on the pavement and went over as I came to stop. Kaboom! I hit the ground with little forward motion. Although I did not hit my head my forward movement was enough to suffer some road rash on my right knee and elbow. After struggling to get up and wipe away the blood it was a relief to know that all my parts were attached and nothing was broken. With some aching we managed to climb back up into town to find the desired route.
We arrived at Tony and Natasha's at the appointed time. They have made incredible progress from last year when there were no doors or windows.
The windows were ordinary but Tony's design of the front door was magnificent.
The table was set for six which also included Darlene & Shaun. We are becoming a regular group.
Once the food appeared we knew were in for a real treat. Quiche (two kinds), pate, salad, and figs galore (I will pass). The festivities began with a bubbly starter (Ackerman of course) since the Dom Perigone did not make it into the cooler.
Once all arrived we needed a quick photo record the event and begin the 3 1/2 hour traditional French lunch.

Although the weather would not give in peppering us with on again, off again drizzle. Nothing a little more alcohol can not eradicate. From the dining terrace we looked out over the pool to the view beyond.

Darlene and Natasha explore the gazebo area below. Still sober enough to find our way home we exchanged goodbyes (au voir). We decided to shower and skip any more food and drink for the rest of the day.
Good food, good friends, make even a gray day seem brighter.
