Since we arrived on a Tuesday today starts our second week here in the Dordogne.
An old bus shelter in Saint Pompom which was an ideal coffee stop on our ride out and back to Saint Laurent with a slight deviation to Prats to get a few more miles under our belt.
The coffee comes in large cups and the pastry we brought along was the ideal accompaniment.
Balloon launches have been either cancelled or delayed due to the fog sitting over the river valley. Riding aloft would be pointless if all you can see is the inside of a cloud. Besides balloons are restricted to "visual flight rules".
Never get tired watching a balloons drift along the air currents.
Also we don't get tired of lunch on our terrace facing up river watching the canoes and kayaks float on by.
Chicken sandwich for Kim and smoked salmon for me.
And don't forget the local tomatoes which actually taste the way tomatoes should. A bit a salt and ooh la la.
Today is Wednesday, September 3rd. Although it was a glorious day Alan was a bit under the weather so we decided to lay low. Since tomorrow's forecast is rain all day we were planning to go to the market to fill in with the items we need for our Thursday dinner with Natasha, Tony, Darlene, and Shaun. However a quick to Sarlat seemed more appropriate for our down day.
While gathering our essentials Kim noticed a woman down the aisle wearing shoes she recognized from the other night. She quietly called out "Natasha" and was amazed when this person turned around. We know we are becoming locals when we recognize someone at the mega-store the next town over. Feels more like home every day!
To accommodate our dinner guests we needed to restock our supply of bubbly along with Kim's favorite wine selections.
Although we topped 200 euros we were about 100 euros short of our outing last week. The find of the day was a set of three fly swatters for about one euro. Let the bug swatting begin.
